Talking to Andrei…

So, love keeps coming up.

What is it? How do you do it? Where does it start?

We live in a thought provoking and conceptual world. In other words- a world of thought, projection, and Ego.

So, most of the time we are trying to live out these misguided visions of grandeur and romance when it comes to love and loving and it causes a lot of issues for us.

We get swept up and away by the societal and cultural conditioning of Disney’s fairytales. A fairytale that shows us how to be a vulnerable and victimized Princess who needs saving; as well as, a Prince Charming who must save a damsel in distress.

Trust me- in my mind, and seemingly in theory, I believe that the Disney fairytale vision “would be” an amazing way to live out one’s life. In fact, I have tried, and sometimes catch myself, still trying to find my Prince Charming (or make whoever is next to me into one;)).

But, the Universe keeps showing me that the Disney fantasy is not reality and actually, believing in that fantasy depletes me, makes me feel lonely, and brings a sense of unworthiness into my emotional body. Ironically, that’s when I know that I am meant for some other way of living- and loving. Let’s call it an upgraded consciousness of loving.

The Universe actually says to stand on my own 2 feet, and walk in my own shoes, and SHARE time, harmonize lives, while blending the rough edges of existence into a relationship of continual renewal, regeneration, and great caring. It’s not black and white. There is nothing clear cut about it. It’s gray and fuzzy and soft and malleable and totally surprising.

The structure for such loving is ever uncertain and evolving, but the sensations and the vibrations in and around my body feel super charged with a renewable resource for my Spirit.

What this loving looks like on the outside, I can’t say.

But, I do know that it all starts with great Self Love.

So, here are 3 things you can do to actually get started on upgrading the consciousness in your loving!

  1. Loving Kindness Meditation. Believe it, or not, Metta Meditation alters your brain’s chemistry and patterning. Say to yourself everyday: “May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be free of suffering and all the causes of suffering.”
  2. Self Care. Feeling good in the body helps with Self Confidence. Self Confidence magnetizes positive interactions. You are less likely to “settle”, put up with abuse, or let someone take advantage of you.
  3. Self Reliance. Take the actions necessary in your life to stand up financially and emotionally.
